It’s October, one of our favorite months of the year… the leaves begin to change colors, the breeze gets cooler, the pumpkins are ready for harvest, and costumes are made for All Hallows Eve. October is the month of awareness; our senses become heightened, aware of the changes around us and within us, we start to reflect on the past 10 months of the year, thinking what we have and haven’t done, and what we’ll do to make the next two months (yup, two months!!) of the year [more] memorable. Most importantly, October is the month of awareness and support for women’s health.
Here at Mika, we work to support and try to help women feel like their fabulous selves. Being aware and active about women’s health is our mission, and we want to help spread the word and support about Breast Cancer Awareness.
Here are just some stats about breast cancer: • 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer her lifetime. • When caught early, the 5 year survival rate is 98%. • There has a steady decrease in breast cancer mortality, thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness. • In 2013, there were more than 2.8 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. This includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment.
Whether we have been personally touched by this terrible disease or simply taking active stand for all women to live healthily, one thing is certain: awareness is changing people’s lives. To further awareness and support, we have created (adorable) stickers for you to share, wear and flaunt however you want! Want one? All you have to do is ask for one & we will mail it to ya! That simple. Our request? Just make sure you show it off, and tag #ilovemyboobs & #mikayogawear through Instagram, Facebook, or Pinterest (we have Tumblr too), and we’ll re-post and re-share your support.
Something else we can't wait to share.... we’ll be releasing something extra special this month in celebration of everything Pink (*hint*).
It’s time to take charge, and be active. Announce it! Shout it to the world: I LOVE MY BOOBS!
